Commonwealth's Comprehensive Approach to Erosion and Sediment Control for 138 kV Transmission Line Relocation
138 kV Transmission Line Relocation Project
Project Date: 2016 - 2018
Type of Client: Utility
Project Region: Midwest
Services: Engineer of Record, Environmental & Permitting, Land and Right of Way
Commonwealth prepared an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan for the relocation of approximately one mile of 138 kV transmission line required because of a Department of Public Works road widening project.
Commonwealth's Solution:
The plan incorporated soil erosion measures and best management practices per the US Environmental Protection Agency and local Department of Environmental Management standards. Commonwealth prepared the Notice of Intent and filed for construction, stormwater, and general permits. Commonwealth also coordinated a wetland delineation of the new right-of-way and access routes and presence/absence survey for the Northern long-eared bat and the local bat species. Both are listed as protected species in the region by US Fish and Wildlife Services.
Commonwealth’s Land Services Team prepared a market study to determine land costs in the area, prepared easement documents, and negotiated with property owners for easements leading to securing the necessary rights.
